March… Uh, February Glymm Box

I wonder if the March glymm box will ship out on time this month… Usually ships the week of the 10th. We’ll see, I suppose! I didn’t get my February glymm box until February 28th. Onward!

Contents in a nutshell: Lip balm, mud masque, eye shadow, and bronzing blot paper.

Apologies for the less-than-awesome picture this month. My camera lens had fog inside of it and I had to use my kit lens for some pictures.

Glam Glow Mud Mask

Glam Glow Mud Mask
3 out of 5 stars

This product sells for $78.00 for a full-sized jar. The sample included in this month’s Glymm was enough for 4 uses, though I could have made it to 5 if I weren’t so greedy the second time!

Glam Glow’s Mud Mask is boasted to soften wrinkles, smoothen out fine lines, correct discoloration, tighten, and improve overall skin appearance.

This product stings! It didn’t irritate my face, but it tingled and stung while I waited for the 10-15 minutes to pass. While applying it, you’ll notice that the cream portion of it is smooth and has the appearance of most high-quality mud masks, smells like a spa, and goes on smoothly… On the other hand, it contains large, rough, uneven exfoliating flakes (mud?), which makes it difficult to find a good balance between exfoliating and scratching the ever-loving love out of your face.

It is said to penetrate the layers of your skin to encourage collegen synthesis which is supposed to last for 3 days.

I did have an improvement in the overall complexion of my skin, but I didn’t see much tightness outside of general dry skin, and my fine lines are still shouting out “Oh hai!”

Blot Papers

Mai Couture Blush Paper/Blotting-Bronzing Paper
Unrated

This month’s Glymm box included one blotting sheet to try by Mai Couture. What makes this blotting paper unique is that it delivers bronzing as you blot… Pretty interesting concept. I haven’t tried it out just yet. Frankly, this idea kind of scares me a little! I don’t tend to wear a lot of makeup outside of light eye makeup.

The paper releases a very shimmery bronze powder to your face as it absorbs and blots away excess oil or sweat from your face. What makes me most nervous is just how shimmery the formula seems to be — tested it by smudging it between my fingers. It might react different on my face, though. I’m also a little concerned over how exactly it is going to go on evenly. The cute postcard that it came attached to claims that it will deposit a hint of golden colour while evening out your skin tones. We shall see, Mai Couture… We shall see. *Swoops cape over face and turns 180 degrees*

Just kidding. I don’t own a cape.

… I was using a towel.

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm

Full size! Is it really a secret that I have a love affair with anything Burt’s Bees makes? No?

… Oh. Onward: This tinted lip balm is amazing. I love the colour that I was sent – it is called hibiscus and is a pinkish orange colour that just goes strangely well with my skin tones. I hate wearing lipstick, but I have been dawning this daily since it arrived.

It practically melts onto your lips when you apply it and stays on for a decent amount of time. The packaging it came in was pretty darn cute as well. It is definitely a step up from their other tinted lip balms, which I absolutely hated. Sorry, my love <3

Sula Natural Eye Shadow

Full size! Uhg. I’m so sorry, Sula! I didn’t care for this product much at all. I love that it is natural and contains loving ingredients, but it was so powdery that it flaked right into my eye while I was applying it with a shadow brush. I used it daily for a week and never got used to its powdery nature.

The colour I was given was a little too pale for my liking. It would be best used as a base or for highlighting contours.

I will keep it in my arsenal and try to find a better way to apply it. Until then, this is the lowest rating I’ve given 🙁  I wept a little.

  1. I had the same problem with my Sula eyeshadow. I called up the company and asked if they had any suggestions, and they recommended trying to put it on with a wet brush. That solved my problem! 🙂

Also, I use it more as a highlight color too, I don’t think it’s really meant to be a stand-alone color, it’s just too pale.

    • I ended up using it as a base. It’s pretty handy because it makes blending super easy! haha Thanks for the suggestion of the wet brush. I’ll have to give that a try.
