January Glymm Box! Review

Glymm Box

January 2010 Glymm Box

Ahhh, finally! The Glymm Box is here. Yay! I’m pretty content with this box, though it is the least favourite I have received thus far.

In this box: No jelly bellies 🙁   Apparently, the cute jars they used kept breaking on people, so they are rethinking the packaging before offering the candies again. I’ll wait patiently.

Anastasia :: Clear Brow Gel

Anastasia :: Clear Brow Gel

Anastasia :: Clear Brow Gel full-size 0.28 oz $27.00
Rating: 6 out of 10

This gel is clear so it can be used alone or you can use it overtop of eyebrow pencils or powder. It’s essentially styling gel for your eyebrows so you can use it to help set your eyebrows into the position you would like them to be in. You can definitely feel the gel on your eyebrows once it has dried as the hold is quite secure. It remains invisible until you start playing with it… At that point, it does begin to break off. I wouldn’t say it flakes, but it makes little jelly babies. I’m not terribly keen on this product, but I will certainly keep it in my arsenal for those days when my eyebrows just can’t be contained by my regular tinted eyebrow gel.

Bamboo Facial Cleansing Cloths

KAIA :: Bamboo Facial Cleansing Cloths

KAIA :: Bamboo Facial Cleansing Cloths One cloth $1.10 value
Rating: 9 out of 10

These cleaning cloths are biodegradable and are touted to be a 3-in-one: cleanser, make-up remover, and a toner. I give it a rating of 9 out of 10 because it did an amazing job of removing my mascara and makeup and it felt really gentle on my skin. It had a very mild smell to it.

The KAIA Bamboo cloths contain 99% natural ingredients including essential oils, citrus oils, oat amino acids, and organic honey just to name a few. It goes without saying that these cloths are a one-time use product. They come in packs of 20 individually wrapped for $22.00 or or 30 in a single container for $17.99

Cargo Eye Pencil

Cargo :: Eye Pencil

Cargo :: Eye Pencil ~ Full size! $16.00  Value
Rating: 8 out of 10

 I’m not sure if I like this product or not. It is so soft that it practically melts onto your eyes. It’s perfect for making a smokey eye or any style that requires a lot of blending since it smudges very easily. That said… It smudges very easily and migrates off from your eyelid fairly easily. It also manages to maintain its colour on your eyelid and is hard to remove.

The Cargo eye pencil (which I received in black) is very easy to use because it is such a soft formula, but it is not good for my personal style of applying eye liner. It becomes very messy with my technique, so this one I will save for those days I feel like spending hours getting ready 😛

Burt's Bees :: Body Lotion

Burt's Bees :: Body Lotion

Burt’s Bees :: Body Lotion ~ Two 0.25 oz samples. full sized sell for $12.99
Rating: 10 out of 10

Who doesn’t love Burt’s Bees? Except for vegans, of course (Hi, Crystal!! <3) I liked these samples. Each sample contained enough product to moisturize my legs and my arms twice, so I got four uses out of them. The smell is quite natural and not overpowering. The formula certainly moisturizes and is not at all oily or greasy feeling.

I tend to keep moisturizer and then forget to use it (except for hand lotion) so I love getting samples for moisturizers. It gives me an excuse to actually use it quickly.

Some quick notes about Burt’s Bees: It is 99% natural, packaging is recyclable, it has a shelf life of 12 months, and is organic. It claims to provide 24 hours of moisturizer and I believe it.

Side note… Do you know that feeling you get when you wear soft pants after you freshly shave your legs? This moisturizer gives you that feeling without having to shave… If that makes sense!

Vasanti :: Brighten-Up

Vasanti :: Brighten-Up

Vasanti :: Brighten-Up retails for $34.00/4.23 oz
Rating: 10 out of 10

I am biased. I cannot tell a lie… I love facial products. I love face scrubs. Love, love, love! I was also biased before even trying the Brighten-Up scrub because of last month’s Vasanti hand lotion which I just adored.

Fortunately for my high hopes, this product lived up to my very high expectations of a Vasanti product. It has a nice, neutral smell, smooth, round scrubby dealios… Err, “Microderm crystals,” contains papaya enzymes, aloe vera, coconut, and a few other products. Things that make you say “Oh yeah!

My skin felt pretty smooth after its use and has a nice, healthy glow to it.

I love Glymm so much that I am tempted to sign up for more boxes from other companies! Aw yeeahhh!

PS. Reminder that your February Glymm box will not ship until the week of the 10th. Boo, it is on a Friday, which means that this will be another late box month. I’ll wait patiently with my hands clasped together and my doe eyes flapping.

  1. Thanks for the uplifting review! I can tell you’re such a bubbly person from it hahah 🙂 I usually do a glymm review every month but I forgot! I googled to see which products we got last month and yours was the first that popped up! ~~ It’s good that you use the stuff right away. I tend to stash it away and then forget about it -___-” I am excited to try out the burt’s bees after reading your review !
