CanScribe Journal: Weeks 7 and 8 of Medical Transcriptionist Program

January 14th – January 27th:: WEEK 7 and 8

Lessons completed since last check-in: 0.

I have landed myself in my new home, though I do have some clean up and packing left to do at my old home. I have a new foot pedal setup and it is working well. This is the pedal that CanScribe gives its students as it is included in the tuition and fees. I also have used the headset that comes with the foot pedal.

I have been quite busy with my new contract position, so the amount of time I have been putting into my schooling has been quite minimal. I did, however, have time over the past few days to work on the schooling…. And as luck would have it, the WARP system has been down that entire time. It is still down at this moment.

The WARP system is what CanScribe uses to provide the dictations for us to transcribes. As such, I have not been able to participate in school at all as I wait for the WARP system to be fixed. I find this very frustrating as this is definitely a waste of my time. I have limited time, as I’m sure you can imagine, working full time while moving, maintaining a home, and managing between 1 and 6 children depending on the day.

As I can’t access the WARP system, I cannot see how many dictations I have left to complete, but I do believe it to be around 12 remaining. I have transcribed all of those remaining 12 and just have to edit for grammar/typos and re-listen to the dictation to ensure the words are as correct as I can get them!
